A bareroot tree is a live but dormant tree. These trees are easily transported and transplanted in their dormancy. As the plant isn’t in its growth phase, it doesn’t need soil nutrition to live. It does, however, need it’s roots to remain in a moist media at all times.

Bareroot trees are easier to transport and undergo far less transplant shock than a tree transplanted in its growth phase, resulting in an ultimately healthier tree.

Since bareroot trees don’t require plastic containers or soil for transport like other traditional nursery plants, they can be a far more affordable option for those purchasing them.

Your tree will be shipped based on what climatic zone you’re in so that you’ll be able to plant your tree as soon as it arrives.

Your tree or shrub will be packed with moist sawdust around its roots. This media is essential for the survival of the plant until it is transplanted, so make sure to keep the sawdust moist and keep it around the roots of the plant. You can also store the tree in another moist media until you are ready to plant. However, please do not store your trees in a sopping wet media that could encourage rotting.

Plant your trees as soon as you’re able, and before springtime growth temperature in your area.

Dig your hole bigger than you think it should be. You can amend the soil as you like. Be sure to water your tree until it’s well established.
